New thinking for a new era
Exploring radical approaches to quality, productivity and collaboration

Your opportunity to engage with the most challenging, stimulating and committed clinicians and managers working in Primary Care today

As By the time we meet in Bournemouth this November, the consultation process on the Coalition Government’s White Paper – in which the NHS Alliance has played a leading role – will be complete. GP Commissioning remains the cornerstone of the administration’s vision for the future of Primary Care, but clearly PCTs will have a hugely important role to play in supporting the transition to the new order.

At the same time as managing the most significant reorganisation of Primary Care since the inception of the NHS,
clinicians and managers will be under severe pressure to continue delivering ever better outcomes with ever more tightly constrained resources. These are the profound challenges now facing us all - from PCT Chief Executive to Practice Nurse.

We are, truly, “all in this together” and, as spending cuts begin to bite, the old cry of “It can’t be done!” will win little sympathy or support. Now is the time embrace disruption and make a virtue
out of necessity.

So how will we pilot a major reorganisation, cut costs and ensure we continue to deliver great Primary Care? At The Cutting Edge, we hope to offer some genuinely radical yet practical solutions through a compelling mix of innovative thinking, ingenious front-line initiatives and inspiring examples of bold and imaginative leadership.

Through our extensive workshop programme, The Cutting Edge will offer compelling examples of how innovative services are being delivered right now by GP Consortia – and others - with
enhanced quality and reduced cost.

If it is your responsibility to safeguard quality whilst meeting the twin challenges of reorganisation and improving productivity, Can you risk not being at The Cutting Edge?

Conference Chair: Professor Chris Ham, Chief Executive, The King's Fund

Pre-conference meeting on GP
Commissioning
With the NHS Alliance Clinical Commissioning Federation
supported by humana
17th November, Bournemouth International
Centre

At this half-day meeting we will consider the outcomes of the consultation process for the White Paper and the likely implications for policy development for GP Commissioning. In addition, we will investigate how best to deal with the key issues of capacity and skills development.

The meeting will be of particular interest to PEC Chairs and PBC Leads – the commissioning leaders of tomorrow – along with others who have a professional interest in making GP Commissioning work.

The day will conclude with a special dinner with
VIP guest. This meeting is free of charge for those attending the annual conference and for those unable to attend The Cutting Edge, the cost will be £35+VAT.
There will also be a working lunch for PEC Chairs and
Clinical Commissioners also on 18th November at The
Cutting Edge
with VIP guest. Numbers will be limited for both the pre-conference meeting and the working lunch on 18th November, so please pre-book your place on these events by Clicking here.

About the NHS Alliance
The NHS Alliance is the only organisation that brings together PCTs with practices, clinicians with managers and board members – and NHS Primary Care with its patients. No other NHS body has PCT chief executives and other senior managers, doctors and practice managers, nurses, pharmacists and allied health professionals, along with board chairs and members, all working together to improve the health service.

It is politically independent and is happy to work with bodies outside the NHS providing its values and principles are not compromised. It recognises the value of specialist expertise and its thirteen professional networks allow all groups to benefit from their insights,
ideas and experience.

If you would like to join the NHS Alliance then please contact Kaye Locke, Head of Administration at k.locke@nhsalliance.org or by phone on 01777 869080.
